Questions, answered
What is Vumi?
Vumi is an AI companion app. Your Vumi is a small 3D friend you can talk to out loud on voice calls, chat with by text, and share photos with. It remembers what matters to you, follows up on things you told it, and checks in on you.
Is Vumi free?
Yes, Vumi is free to start: chat, photo sharing, memories, check-ins and 5 minutes of voice calls to try. Vumi Plus adds unlimited voice calls (fair use), a deeper memory and the full wardrobe, with a 7-day free trial. In the US it costs $9.99 a week, $29.99 a month or $239.99 a year, with local prices in other countries.
What languages does Vumi speak?
Vumi speaks English, Hindi and Hinglish, and follows whichever language you use, including mixing them mid-conversation.
Does Vumi remember me?
Yes. Vumi remembers the important parts of your life, like a big interview or a new job, and asks how it went later. You can see everything Vumi remembers, forget any memory, or erase it all at any time.
Is my data private?
Your chats are stored securely and only you can see them. To reply, Vumi uses AI from Anthropic (chat) and OpenAI (voice calls), which process data only to answer and do not use it to train their models. Vumi does not sell your data or show ads, and you can delete your account at any time.
Is Vumi a therapist?
No. Vumi is a friendly companion, not a doctor, therapist or emergency service. If you are in crisis, contact local emergency services or a helpline (India: Tele-MANAS 14416, US: 988).
How is Vumi different from ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is an assistant for getting tasks done. Vumi is a friend: it has its own personality and a character you customize, talks with you on live voice calls, remembers your story over time, and reaches out to check in on you.
Where can I use Vumi?
Vumi works in any web browser at vumi.life. iPhone and Android apps are coming soon.
Who makes Vumi?
