Vumi is made by Clarigo Infotech Private Limited ("we"). Vumi is a little friend you talk and chat with. To be a good friend, Vumi needs to remember things about you. This page explains, in plain words, what we keep, why, and how you stay in control.
What we keep
- Your account: your name, email, and a securely scrambled (hashed) version of your password. We never store your password itself.
- What you share with Vumi: chat messages, photos you send in chat, and the words of your voice calls (as text). We don't keep recordings of your voice.
- What Vumi remembers: short notes Vumi makes about you (like "has a big interview on Friday"), your answers from sign-up, upcoming reminders and check-ins, and how your Vumi looks.
- Subscriptions: if you subscribe to Vumi Plus, payment is handled by Apple or Google. We only learn whether your subscription is active; we never see your card details.
- Settings: your language, time zone (so Vumi knows when it's night for you), and whether check-ins and notifications are on.
Why we keep it
Only to run Vumi: so Vumi can reply, remember your story, follow up on things that matter to you, and send the reminders and check-ins you've allowed. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't use your conversations to advertise to you.
Services that help run Vumi
Vumi's replies are powered by AI services. When you chat or call, the relevant part of your conversation is sent to them to produce a reply, and then handled under their own privacy terms:
- Anthropic (Claude): chat replies, understanding photos, remembering, and looking things up on the web when you ask about news or current events.
- OpenAI: live voice calls, Vumi's speaking voice, and turning speech into text.
When Vumi searches the web for you, the search is about your question, not about you.
You agree to this when you create your account. If you no longer want your data shared, delete your account (Profile → Account) and nothing more is sent. Under their API terms they don't use your data to train their AI models, and they may keep it for up to 30 days for safety and abuse monitoring before deleting it.
You're in control
- Forget anything: in Profile → What Vumi remembers, forget any single memory, or erase everything.
- Check-ins: turn them or notifications off anytime in Profile → Check-ins.
- Report a reply: tap "Report" under any message from Vumi. Reports (the message and the reason) are kept to help make Vumi safer.
- Delete your account: Profile → Account → Delete account permanently removes your account, your Vumi, chats, photos and memories. You can also request it without the app at /delete-account.
Keeping it safe
Your data is stored on our servers and is only reachable by you, after you log in. Photos you share can only be opened from your own account.
Vumi is a friend, not a professional
Vumi can listen and support you, but isn't a doctor, therapist or emergency service. If you're in crisis, please contact local emergency services or a helpline (in India: Tele-MANAS 14416; in the US: 988).
Age
Vumi is meant for people aged 13 and over.
Changes and contact
